Catastrophic auto insurance suggested by Halifax lawyer

Jul 01

A Halifax personal injury lawyer has suggested to the Nova Scotia government that there needs to be a boost in the medical rehabilitation benefits which are handed out to those who suffer ‘catastrophic’ injuries in motor vehicle accidents. John McKiggan has stated that those who suffer severe injuries in accidents required extensive medical treatment and should be eligible to receive more medical benefits, maybe up to $100,000. They must also have additional benefits such as income replacement of up to $1,000 for every week that the injured person is unable to go to work as a result of the accident. John McKiggan is from the Atlantic Trial Lawyers Association.

McKiggan has also served in the advisory committee at the Nova Scotia Automobile Insurance Review. He

Insuring Motorcycles versus Scooters

Jul 01

If you are considering an alternate mode of transportation to cars then you are probably considering motorcycles and scooters as options. Both burn less fuel than cars do, take up less space, and provide the outdoor riding experience so many people enjoy. Both have their advantages and their disadvantages in comparison to the other.

Most people think of scooters as cute little mopeds that don’t go very fast, but that’s not necessarily true anymore. Scooters are now being manufactured by major motorcycle companies which look very much like a motorcycle and are capable of travelling fast enough to keep up with traffic on a major highway. On the other hand, they do not go as fast as motorcycles do and may not be suitable for long distance travel. Man Read more…

Parents Are Now Trying to Buy Safer Vehicles for Their Young Drivers

Jun 23

Summer is here now and many young drivers will be out of school and hitting the road. It is important for parents to choose a vehicle that is right for their child to drive. A rule of thumb is to look for vehicles that sit up higher such as minivans, sport utility vehicles and trucks because the higher up you are sitting during a crash, the better your chances are of suffering non-life threatening injuries.

There are many great safe cars that are also affordable at the same time. Parents should examine the crash test ratings of a vehicle before they start looking for vehicles so that they can easily narrow down the search early on. Most young drivers are more concerned with the color of the vehicle and the kind of sound system that it has rather than its safety features.

No-Fault Payouts from Car Insurance Companies

Jun 23

According to the Rochester Homepage in New York, lawmakers in the state are working to crack down on fraudulent no-fault car insurance claims.  This is good news for car insurance companies, especially those dealing with fraud related to no-fault car insurance claims.  After a car accident, no-fault insurance allows drivers to be paid out even though the blame for the car accident is not placed on either driver.  Unfortunately, New York state lawmakers say that there are a lot of fraudulent claims being paid out and that New Yorkers are paying millions of dollars a year for these fraudulent no-fault claims.

Some criminals actually create car accidents so that they can file a no-fault insurance claim with their car insurer.  Insurance companies like Infinity auto insurance are obviously not happy about that and will be pleased to see lawmakers help cut down on false claims.  Lawmakers have already made it a felony to cause a car accident intentionally, the first step in cutting out this fraud.  Even though there arent that many people filing fraudulent claims, it really does effect everyone because it causes car insurance rates to increase.  Lawmakers hope to find a way to cut down on this expensive fraud very soon.

No Insurance Claim Rejection Now

Jun 22

The insurance companies who reject claims by giving tenuous reasons to their customers are now set for scrapheap. The excuses made by the provider for claim rejection like declaration of unrelated driving offences make the insurance policy worthless for the driver.

Sometimes the customers are not able to get an insurance claim even in emergency due to the non generous claim procedure of the provider. The insurance company blames the customer for not revealing some facts to the provider which are actually not even related with the claim. While buying the policy, the customer was not even asked about the facts that create problem during the claim process.

While buying the insurance policy, the customers who compare car insurance quotes to get cheap deal do not bother about the terms and conditions of the policy.
